A Little Bit of Everything

I wanted to welcome the two newest readers of my blog. Thanks for joining and I hope to get to know you better!

My husband, Marshall, had a birthday the other day and our future daughter-in-law, Nicki, created something quite neat for a special gift. She made a golden retriever out of clay that looks just like my husband's dog, Sam, down to his shiny white teeth! I'm amazed how she can work with the tiny bits of clay and shape them just right. He was quite tickled with the gift.

Speaking of gifts, I finished one of mine the other day. This hand knit beanie was knit using a slubby handspun spruce wool single. I think someone is going to like this!

My husband loves to turn on his lathe, and he gave me another wonderful walnut bowl. I hate to admit this, but I'm keeping my sewing machine feet in it. It's such a lovely bowl, it really should go on a display shelf.

I'm spoiled, I know, to have another hand turned bowl sitting on my work desk that I get to see every day. :-) I love to see the grain lines and the natural color of the wood that he works with. And each bowl is unique.

Happy quilting,
Judy

Oh the Golden Retriever is gorgeous , they are my favorite breed of dog and we have owned a few ,it is perfect and looks just like Sam! Marshall is also very talented to create such a beautiful bowl , nothing wrong with using it for your sewing machine feet , the main thing is to use it and enjoy its beauty.Great hat too , someone will be extra warm this winter :-)

She did a marvelous job on the dog! We have one that looks like our Harriet that holds a birthday candle on top of the cake each year!
The bowl is a real work of art, too.
